Mermaid Peek Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 22, 2026

Mermaid Peek converts Mermaid code on websites you allow into PNG diagrams inside your browser.

Local processing of page content

The extension inspects DOM text on allowed pages to find Mermaid code blocks. When you open a diagram, its source is sent to the renderer bundled inside the extension. Source code and generated PNGs are processed locally and are not transmitted to the developer or an external rendering server. Detection may include Mermaid entered in text areas on allowed pages.

Information stored

The extension stores your allowed-site list in chrome.storage.local. This setting stays in the local browser profile and does not use Chrome account synchronization. Generated PNGs, diagram selection, and zoom state are held in the running page's memory. If you choose Save PNG, the browser saves the image to your device.

Collection, sharing, and tracking

The developer does not collect or receive page content, diagrams, browsing history, credentials, personal identifiers, or usage analytics through this extension. It contains no advertising, analytics services, or tracking SDKs. It does not sell data or share it with third parties. No extension account or developer-operated rendering server is required.

Chrome Web Store installation and update services, and the websites you visit, are subject to their own policies.

Permissions

Control and deletion

Remove a site in the options page to unregister its detection script and stop detection in matching open tabs. You can also manage site access in Chrome's extension settings. Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome-managed local settings. Downloaded PNG files remain on your device until you delete them.

Changes and contact

This policy will be updated if the extension's behavior or information handling changes. For questions, use the developer contact listed on the Chrome Web Store product page.
